Giving Tree Supports Families

Thanks to members of Christ Lutheran Church for your support of the 2015 Giving Tree. Our congregation helped eight families, including 38 people, 26 of whom were children. More than 50 congregation members and friends participated in buying and wrapping gifts and food, sorting gifts and food, and delivering gifts.

We shared nearly $2,000 worth of food for Christmas dinner, as well as staples for one to two months. We received $800 in a Thrivent match, as well as $300 from the endowment hunger fund for this effort.

Additionally, we were able to provide many sleeping bags and blankets for families and find a gently used stroller for a child, as well as two extras that we gave to North Marion schools to distribute to other families in need.

Christ Lutheran began its annual Giving Tree effort under the direction of the late Gretchen Wilson, who taught at North Marion. In 2016, we will mark the 25th year of supporting families in our area during the holiday season.
