It is hard to imagine worship without music. In our Lutheran tradition, Martin Luther and his fellow reformers recognized the power of music to teach and inspire. Many of the church’s early hymns were written to tunes that were as likely to come from beer halls as they were from ivory towers. We continue to praise God with a variety of instruments and musical styles in our worship.
Music is an important part of our life together as a community of faith. At our traditional service, we sing more familiar hymns as well as portions of the liturgy. At our contemporary service, the congregation sings music led by our praise band musicians and vocalists. At all of our services, we believe that each and every voice contributes to our offering of praise and worship to God.
At Christ Lutheran we are blessed to have a number of talented musicians who share their gifts with the congregation and help lead us in community song. Among them are…
Donna Coleman - Organist
Donna Coleman is a GFU/WOSU graduate (B.S. in Education) and has a studio in Newberg where she teaches 20 piano students. She has been a church musician for most of her life, starting at age 12. She is married to John Coleman and has three musical daughters and five beautiful grandchildren.
